  • This building is part of the Supreme Court in Honolulu. It is also famous because its exterior is used in the TV series "Hawaii Five-0". In fact they were shooting a scene as I took this photo - you can see the umbrellas and a few heads behind the hedge. Jo, who was rubbernecking near the shoot, claims to have seen the stars Alex O'Loughlin (Steve McGarrett) and Scott Caan (Danny "Danno" Williams).<br /> The statue in front is of King Kamehameha the Great who united the Hawaiian islands and established the Kingdom of Hawaii in 1810.<br /> This building is right across the road from what we came downtown to see - the Iolani Palace,
  • The Iolani Palace built by King David Kalākaua in 1882 as a house for the royal family, and fulfilled this function until 1893 when the Kingdom of Hawaii was overthrown. In 1898 Hawaii was annexed by the USA.
  • The entrance hall of Iolani Palace. The staircase leads to the private accommodation of the royal family upstairs.

  • The formal dining room of the palace.
  • The throne room, used for official meetings between the king and visiting dignitaries. Also used as a ballroom.
  • Our holiday is almost over. A final look at Waikiki, this time dotted with sailboats.
  • Our final night coincided with the weekly fireworks display put on by the Hilton Hawaii Village, as if saying farewell.
