Avenue of trees at Salamanca

hobart

  • Jackman & McRoss bakery in Battery Point - where we recovered after eating at the Shipwrights Arms
  • You can choose sweet - those lamingtons are the size of a house!
  • Or you can choose savoury. The coffee was good too
  • Jackman & McRoss was very busy when we arrived, but then calmed down as lunch time finished
  • Hobart's Battery Point - the whole suburb is heritage listed
  • This beautiful flower squeezed its way out of a crack in an old piece of iron fencing
  • Battery Point mansion
  • Avenue of trees at Salamanca
  • Seagulls circling a woman eating her lunch on the grass at Salamanca
  • Harley joy-ride at the Hobart waterfront. Note the giant teddy on the back
  • Richmond Gaol - I tried to recreate the feel of the place by making the photos this way
  • Richmond Gaol courtyard
  • One of the solitary confinement cells. How would you like to spend a few days locked up in here? When the door is shut there is no light at all...
  • Not so easy to squeeze through here to escape
  • A gaol bread oven - very basic
  • An Austin vintage car at Richmond
  • Richmond Bridge, constructed in 1823 (before Brisbane was settled!)
  • Picturesque Richmond Bridge
  • Bottling at the Spring Vale Winery. The bottling plant is a transportable unit brought in by external operators. Saves the winery from having the capital outlay. This plant fills, caps and seals one bottle each second.
  • Oak barrels storing wine at Spring Vale
